Be VERY careful during and shortly after Hurricane Season, apart from the storms themselves, there can be a lot of hazardous debris both in the water and on shore. Coinciding with that you may encounter very rude tourists who's etiquette may be lackluster on the beach. During certain times of the year (Spring Break) it can get a little busy, but not bad (especially if you're into that scene). Look out for Jellyfish, I have been stung here before but that's relatively unavoidable when you spend enough time here. There are Canoe and Kayak Rentals among other Rentals and activities on or near this beach. Easy to get to while not being too far from the mainland and downtown Corpus Christi. Not as busy as some of the other beaches. Friendly Parks and Lifeguard Staff, classic Texan hospitality with a little bit more of a laid-back beach/ salt life vibe.

More Things to do in Corpus Christi Near White Cap Beach If you find an injured, sick, nesting or dead turtle, please call the Texas Sealife Center at 1-866-TURTLE-5. The turtles are protected and not to be touched, even if you find one in distress. I tried to get some good pictures, but I do not have the patience needed! One of the most exciting things during one visit was there were an abnormally large number of sea turtles swimming in the surf off the beach! A high North wind had pushed many of them out and it was pretty neat to swim along side them. It’s so exciting to spot green sea turtles eating algae off the jetties, too! There is great fishing along both jetties. The end of Whitecap Beach is marked by the South and the North jetty of the Packery Channel. There was a strong North wind on this visit, and the windsurfers were out enjoying it! We had a lot of fun watching their great tricks! Want to learn? 361KITE offers lessons and gear! If you don’t want to drive your car on the sand, there is FREE parking lot on Windward, with restrooms and showers. They are available not only on the beach, but also from area stores.
You can purchase either a day pass or an annual pass. Parking is allowed on the beach with a beach permit. Well behaved, leashed dogs are allowed on the beach. The beach at Whitecap on an early Summer day! The beach is open 24/7, all year! Overnight camping is allowed on the beach, as are beach fires (in a hole in the sand, please remember to fill when finished, and grills, unless stated otherwise. At just 1.5 miles long, it’s a great place to get away for just a little bit! A favorite spot for surfers, there are usually good waves and as part of the City of Corpus Christi, the sand is cleaned each morning with a sandboni, a machine pulled by a tractor that not only cleans the sand of debris, but makes it light and fluffy! Whitecap Beach is a FREE small beach on the coast.
